On Demand OPT Workshop

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a type of work authorization for F-1 students. OPT is designed to allow students to work in the U.S. in their field of study for 12 months following completion of their program.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a type of work authorization for F-1 students. CPT is designed to allow the student to gain practical experience in their field of study prior to graduation.

Sprintax Tax Webinars
ISSS has teamed up with Sprintax to provide you with an easy-to-use tax preparation software designed for nonresident students and scholars in the US. Sprintax offers free tax webinars each spring for all ISU nonresident students and scholars. Workshops are offered beginning Feb/Mar each year and links to register will be added to this events page when available.
 

Travel Signature Days
On the Friday prior to the beginning of each official University Break, your ISSS Advisor will be available for any last-minute travel signature requests.

Pathway Progression Workshops
In mid-March and mid-October each year, ISSS hosts Pathway Progression Workshops for students who will progressing from their ESL Pathway into their degree program.
Workshop Highlights:
  • How to complete the Proof of Finances Form
  • How to request a Change of Level
  • Important related deadlines and travel information

Discover the successes and challenges international students and alumni experienced when landing an internship and/or full-time job in the U.S. Learn first-hand about résumés, applications, interviewing, and addressing sponsorship inquiries.
Tuesday, April 12, 2022 - Immigration Clinic – Life After OPT (Optional Practical Training)
Get helpful advice from immigration expert and Dunn Law Firm Attorney Thomas Arkell. Learn how to navigate immigration laws after graduation, student visa laws and how they affect employment, life after OPT, and application procedures (specifically H-1B visas). Time will be allotted for questions.
